Part of what makes our pieces so enjoyable and ergonomic to use every day is the thinness at which we make each piece. All pieces are tested heavily before being sold to ensure they withstand the basic bumps of everyday life. We continue to use every single one of the items we sell in our own life. However, ceramics is still fragile. 

**Consider our pieces the way you would a wine glass:
With proper care, they last a very long time. We highly encourage you to wash all of our items in the dishwasher. If placed securely, your piece is sure to last and avoid the accidental slippages more common when hand washing an item.

Please note: Thanks to the wonders of physics, it is easy to tell what causes certain breakages in photos of pieces. We stand by the integrity of our craftsmanship (honed over nearly a decade of working in ceramics) and know from our own direct everyday use that pieces don’t break without cause. Every time a handle is bumped, there is a risk of creating an unseen crack. The more times the same location experiences an impact, the greater risk that it can break, albeit seemingly randomly, one day.

We cannot replace broken items for free, but we know how disappointing it can be when your favorite mug has an accident. We offer a private listing to purchase a replacement at a small discount. Please send us a message for access to this listing: ciao@carraterra.com

Great care is taken to package every piece for a safe trip through the postal system, but obviously, we have no control over what happens once the box leaves our hands. If your piece arrives broken, please contact us IMMEDIATELY. If we have additional inventory, we will replace your item promptly. If we are out of stock or you purchased a one-of-a-kind item, we will refund your order minus the cost of credit card fees already paid. Replacing items damaged during shipping without cost is only available if we receive a message from you within 1 week of the package arriving, per the tracking number delivery date.

Outside of the above-outlined policies, we are unable to offer refunds or returns on any items. Kindly remember, every single one of our pieces are literally made by hand, by us. The same person responding to your message is the same person making your favorite mug. As a small business, it is unsustainable to offer the same unquestioned refund policies as the Amazons of the world. Your purchase has not lined the pockets of a shareholder, but instead, directly impacted our life and livelihood, for which we are forever grateful.
